Salt Spring Island Painting Tour

During this customized small group tour you get to learn new painting and sketching skills from fine Arts instructor Judith M. Atkinson. The tour is open to members of the public and suitable for those with or without painting experience.

Some highlights and learning outcomes of this tour:

• Students will explore the natural beauty and culture of the Island with visits to galleries, artist studios, and an Artisan Market 
• Our lovely guesthouse in the town of Ganges serves a home-cooked two-course breakfast every morning, has lovely gardens and a Drawing room ideal for painting, sketching and group critiques
• Painting classes will teach students techniques that will increase their skills of observation, composition, and use of colour
• Painters will strengthen their artistic muscles in responding immediately to the beauty of the various sites on the tour
• Students will gain an understanding of how to work with changing light conditions in the Plein Air tradition 
• Students will come away with at least one major painting and a series of sketches to use as reference for future work
