Since joining the English department in 1997, Sarah Bowers’ contributions to Langara continue to have long-lasting impacts. She joined Educational Technology in 2010, extending her influence across the province as vice-chair of the Educational Technology Users Group. In 2013, Sarah helped found the Teaching Curriculum and Development Centre, creating a welcoming and supportive centre for teaching excellence. She engaged departments in program development, renewal, and review, and helped faculty establish learning outcomes, align assessments, and adopt active learning strategies. She designed workshops for faculty at all stages of their careers and led the College’s Universal Design for Learning initiatives. As an early adopter of educational technologies, Sarah also developed hybrid and online classes well before the COVID pandemic required her, along with the teams in TCDC and EdTech, to help instructors pivot to remote teaching. Sarah returned to TCDC part-time in 2024, bringing back her enthusiasm and expertise.

Sarah retired from Langara in June 2023.
