Rebecca Thiessen
Biography
Rebecca Thiessen is excited to join Langara College as an instructor in the Recreation Studies department, bringing a passion for supporting people’s well-being and personal growth to the job. Rebecca has been practicing as a Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist since graduating with her Bachelors’ of Therapeutic Recreation in 2016.
With a Master of Rehabilitation Science from the University of British Columbia, and extensive experience both teaching and practicing recreation therapy focused on both mental health and gerontology, Rebecca has spent her career creating programs and experiences that help people thrive physically, emotionally, and socially.
She enjoys sharing her knowledge in ways that are engaging, practical, and inspiring, and looks forward to connecting with students and helping them develop skills to make a meaningful difference in their communities. In her free time, Rebecca loves to read, cook, and spend time with her husband, two kids, dog and cats.
