Melissa Roberts
Melissa Roberts, faculty-elected Board Member, joined Langara College in 2011 and is a faculty member and instructor for the Criminal Justice/Criminology department. Melissa was the Department Chair for CRIM from 2018 to 2022, and in January 2023, she became the Division Chair for Community Programs. In addition to teaching and academic leadership, Melissa is an active member of the Langara College community, serving as a faculty association representative and several college-wide committees. She has also been sessional instructor at Simon Fraser University, KPU, Capilano University, and Columbia College and has been teaching Criminology in post-secondary since 2005. Melissa holds both a Bachelor and Master of Arts in Criminology from Simon Fraser University, with her research focus being restorative and community justice, and research methodology. She has completed research projects evaluating restorative justice programming and most recently co-authored a chapter on restorative justice for an open education resource textbook for Introduction to Criminological Theory. Melissa is an avid cook, loves to travel and read, and is a cat-parent to a very spoiled tuxedo cat.
