Community Cupboard bags are available for pick up outside the Hub, from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm, Monday to Friday (excluding holidays) until August 31, 2020.
The Community Cupboard Program is an on-campus food bank program created to help! Langara students can anonymously pick up one week’s worth of groceries (approximately 21 meals). We ask that students only access the cupboard maximum once per week to maintain supply for other students in need.
Addressing food insecurity at Langara
Food is a basic necessity, yet many Langara students are going without. A recent cross-Canada study found 38% of the students surveyed experienced food insecurity. 68% of students prioritized tuition over food and other essentials. One in four had skipped a meal and 1 in 10 had gone a whole day without food due to limited finances. 16.8% reported accessing food banks when money was tight.
Accessing the Community Cupboard
Due to an increase in demand, Community Cupboard bags are available for pick up outside the Hub, near the Bookstore entrance from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm, Monday to Friday (excluding holidays) until August 31, 2020.
Information on how to access the cupboard after the summer 2020 final exam period will be released closer to August 31.
