Applied Analytical Laboratory Skills III - Sample Preparation

Precise sample preparation and analysis are essential in industrial and scientific laboratories. Students learn to follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for sample preparations including homogenizing, weighing, drying, grinding, filtration, screening, extraction, and digestion. Students manage sample flow to ensure traceability and maintain a chain of custody. Learners also use Laboratory Information Management Systems and other digital lab tools to maintain accurate records of sample analysis and instrument maintenance. This training prepares students for the meticulous and precise work required in analytical laboratories.

Prerequisite(s): An “S” grade in or concurrent registration in CHEM 1520, or permission of the department.
