Asia Field Studies – Japan and Korea
Costs
Program fee: $4,750-$5,250 plus spending money
What is included in the program fee:
- Accommodations: Shared (twin) rooms in hotels
- Inter-city (long distance) transportation within Japan and Korea
- Airfare from Osaka, Japan to Asna, South Korea (one-way)
- All entrances and fees to required educational activities
- 3 group dinners; all breakfast in Korea (6 times)
What is not included in the program fee:
- International Airfare (e.g., from Vancouver to Tokyo and from Seoul to Vancouver). After finishing the program, students could stay in Korea longer or travel to other parts of Asia.
- Daily expenses, such as non-group meals (most lunches and dinners), personal spending money, laundry, entertainment fees (e.g., activities on free time)
- Local transportation (subway and local trains in Tokyo, Kyoto and Mito).
- Health and Travel Insurance
- Registration fees and tuition for Langara College
- Application fees for passport and visa (if required)
*Program fees are subject to change due to changes in the program itinerary or uncontrollable circumstances such as the exchange rate and number of enrollment.

Financial aid
The following funding is available for field studies participants.
1. Langara Global award of $1,500.
This award is available to all successful applicants who have not received the award before, subject to approval of the award application.Contact us for more details.
2. One World International Scholarship - Irving K Barber Foundation
Scholarships of between $2,000- $5,000 are awarded to students participating in study, or work-abroad programs that are either experiential learning opportunities (language or cultural training), or that provide credits toward the BC academic credential they are working towards.
To apply, you will need to:
- Review the Eligibility Criteria listed on the BC Scholarship Society website How to Apply page.
- Submit the completed Application including your transcripts and reference forms to Langara's Financial Aid finaid [at] langara.ca (finaid[at]langara[dot]ca).
- Be either a Canadian citizen or a Permanent Resident (landed immigrant).

If you prefer to deliver a hardcopy, please submit your application package to Langara College's Registrar and Enrolment Services in T101, attention to Financial Aid.
3. BC Study Abroad Scholarship
In return for a $1000 scholarship, successful student applicants will submit the following:
- One 300 to 400-word blog post (with photo) to be submitted during their study abroad program
- One 300 to 400-word blog post (with photo) to be submitted within 60 days of the completion of their study abroad program
- Upon completion of the program, 8 to 10 high resolution photos taken by the student documenting their experience:
- Photos must be at least 150 dpi
- Accompanied by a document (i.e. Word, Excel, etc.) containing:
- Image file name
- Caption for each image
- Location where each image was taken (i.e. geotag)
- A short presentation to be made at their home institution once back in BC
