NOTICE: Admissions to Bachelor of Recreation Management on Hold for Spring 2021 and Summer 2021

The Bachelor of Recreation Management (BRM) degree is undergoing a review and the program will not be accepting new students for the Spring 2021 and Summer 2021 semesters. The program is still accepting students for the Fall 2020 semester, and current students will continue in the program with no course closures. This is only a temporary pause in admissions. The program hopes to start accepting new applicants for Fall 2021. We will provide a confirmed restart date as soon as possible.

Students who are interested in the BRM degree should strongly consider registering into the Recreation Leadership Diploma Program.  By doing so they will be able to access BRM degree courses and can then progress into the BRM degree. Once the program admission re-opens diploma students can formally apply to transfer into the BRM degree program.

Interested students should contact an Admissions Advisor or the BRM Coordinator to discuss options and application timelines regarding their goal of completing a Bachelor of Recreation Management. Students can also visit the BRM Course Scheduling Information Package to review the courses available and suggested schedules during this temporary admissions closure.

Please refer to the information regarding general requirements for Admission and Application to Langara College programs.

There are three access routes for admission to the third year of the Bachelor of Recreation Management. Students admitted to the third year of the program will have completed at least 60 credits of post-secondary studies in one of the following routes:

  1. Graduation with minimum cumulative CGPA of 2.0 from the Diploma in Recreation Leadership at Langara College;
  2. Graduation with a minimum cumulative CGPA of 2.0 from a recreation diploma program at another post-secondary institution;
  3. The successful completion of at least 60 credits of university-transferable courses with a minimum CGPA of 2.0 combined with related recreation employment, and the successful completion of the required bridging courses. For these applicants, their work experience will be assessed against the core learning outcomes of first- and second-year recreation courses.

Prospective students seeking admission through routes two or three must have completed a minimum of six credits of university-transferrable English or communications coursework and a minimum of three credits of post-secondary-level accounting coursework.

Prospective students seeking admission through routes two or three must also complete the Supplemental Recreation Program Application. This document is a questionnaire that seeks students’ input on their goals and education expectations.

Note: Applicants requiring more than three bridging courses (nine credits) or who do not meet the minimum GPA requirements, or who are otherwise not admissible into the third year of the BRM, may be considered for entry into the first year of the Diploma in Recreation Leadership. Upon successful completion of the bridging courses with a minimum "C" grade and upon successful completion of at least 60 university-transferrable credits with a minimum CGPA of 2.0 (or successful completion of the diploma), these applicants will be eligible for admission to the third year of the BRM.
