Langara offers a full range of student services to help you succeed, from academic advising and financial aids to health, wellness and community engagement. Discover how these supports can help you start strong and stay balanced this semester.
A new semester is an exciting (but sometimes daunting) experience. To help students start strong, Langara College offers a wide range of student services - from academic advising and financial aid to health and wellness and community engagement – all designed to support success inside and outside the classroom.
“Accessing these resources at the beginning of the semester sets students up with a strong foundation for academic success,” says Denise Busayong, Manager of Student Services Operations.
Resources for Academic Success
Students looking to get the most from their studies can start with a visit to an Academic Advisor. “Academic advising is a great resource to take advantage of early,” states Denise. “Whether you need assistance planning your university transfer or navigating prerequisites, they can help you map out a clear educational path.”
The Academic Success Centre offers free academic supports such as tutoring, the writing centre, and study skills workshops to help you maximize your learning.

Financial Supports
“Financial assistance options are here to help students while they study,” states Busayong.
At Langara, financial assistance comes in many forms from student loans to bursaries and scholarships to on-campus jobs through the GROW program. Awards with a financial stipend are available from both Langara and from external sources, depending on eligibility.
In addition to financial assistance, Langara offers other supports to help students reduce outside stress and focus on their studies.
“It’s always beneficial to review which awards and other financial aid are available to you.”
Health and Wellness
Supporting the health and well-being of students is a core focus at Langara College.
Langara is one of the few post-secondary institutions of its size with a Health Clinic located on campus. Appointments are available in person, by phone, or via video for a range of needs, including physical health concerns, mental health support, immunizations, and more.
In addition, students who are members of the Langara Student Union (LSU) are automatically enrolled in the LSU Health & Dental Plan, including international students, part-time students, sponsored students, and those starting in either September or January.
The Counselling Services team provides free, confidential support for all Langara students. “Our caring, clinically trained counsellors provide free and confidential support to all Langara students,” says Denise. Counselling follows a holistic model that addresses personal, educational, and career-related challenges and goals through one-on-one sessions, groups, and student success workshops.
Students can also join the Mental Health Ambassadors Program, a peer-to-peer initiative that promotes wellness across campus. Ambassador support education and well-being events and help connect peers to the right resources.
Accessibility is also a priority. Denise encourages students who require an accommodation to reach out to Accessibility Services before classes begin to ensure timely support.
An extensive list of external health supports is also available to students seeking off-campus resources.
Transportation
Students paying student union fees may be eligible for U-Pass BC, a discounted transit program offered in partnership with the Langara Student’s Union, TransLink, and the Ministry of Transportation. The pass provides unlimited travel across all three zones on TransLink bus, SkyTrain, and Seabus.
Both Langara campuses feature bike racks and cages for those who cycle. On-campus amenities also include shower facilities, repair tools, an air hose, as well as charging outlets for E-bikes and scooters.
Community Engagement
From recreation to orientation to volunteering and student clubs to cheering on our to top-ranked Falcons men’s and women’s teams, there are many ways to get involved in the Langara community. Make the most of your college experience and build memories by joining our student community.
If you are unsure where to start, Denise recommends visiting the HUB, a dedicated student space in A-building, room A140. The Hub offers a place where students can connect, build community, enjoy study space, explore opportunities to get involved, access phone charging stations, print off assignments and much more.
For international students, Langara Global provides dedicated support to help ease the transition to life in Vancouver. Langara welcomes learners from almost 100 different countries and the Langara Global office is committed to enhancing the student experience for our diverse and engaged community.
Our main campus features the Indigenous Gathering Place — a safe, supportive, and welcoming multi-purpose space that supports Indigenous student academic success. It is also a space for Indigenous students to connect with one another and with student supports while at the College.
“College life can feel overwhelming at times, but students don’t have to navigate it alone,” says Denise. “We have so many supports in place to help everyone feel ready to succeed.”
