How can nursing education better prepare students to navigate the pressures, expectations, and emotional demands of clinical practice?

Join Paramita Banerjee, Langara's Nursing faculty member and primary investigator, along with a research team of nursing faculty and nursing and data analyst students, for a presentation and conversation about Resilience in Nursing Education.

This participatory action research project explores how teaching strategies, learning experiences, and educator support can help undergraduate nursing students build resilience in clinical settings.

What the Research Explores

Drawing on surveys and focus groups with nursing students and educators, the research examines how students develop skills such as self-efficacy, emotional regulation, professional communication, and social competency throughout their education and clinical experiences.

Early findings point to the importance of supportive educator-student relationships, clear expectations, professional role modelling, and helping students recognize both their strengths and areas for growth.

Students also identified challenges including isolation, adapting to different teaching styles, and navigating communication within interdisciplinary health-care teams.

Ultimately, the project aims to inform nursing curriculum and strengthen student success within Langara’s BSN program.
