Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) professionals equipped with the knowledge and practical skills to identify, assess, and control fire risks in the workplace play a valuable role. Students learn fire prevention principles, fire protection systems, applicable codes and standards, and emergency planning practices. Learners conduct basic fire risk assessments and inspections, support regulatory compliance, and integrate fire prevention and protection into workplace health and safety programs.

An Occupational Health & Safety audit is crucial in ensuring a safe and healthy working environment. Auditing principles and practices within Occupational Health and Safety management systems will reveal its strengths and weaknesses. Students examine audit frameworks, including regulatory compliance audits and management system audits aligned with standards such as ISO 45001 and COR programs. Emphasis is placed on audit planning, evidence gathering, evaluation of findings, reporting, corrective actions, and auditor ethics.

Musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs) are a leading cause of workplace injuries, lost-time claims, and reduced productivity across industries, making it critical for occupational safety professionals to apply workplace ergonomics in their practice. Learners develop the ability to recognize ergonomic risk factors, conduct basic ergonomic assessments, and recommend practical interventions to reduce musculoskeletal injuries. Emphasis is placed on real-world workplace scenarios, injury prevention strategies, and compliance with Canadian OHS standards.

Psychological health and safety have become a critical component of occupational health and safety systems in workplaces. Students develop the knowledge and skills needed to recognize and address psychological health risks within an occupational health and safety (OHS) framework. Learners explore how factors such as work design, organizational practices, leadership, and workplace culture influence psychological well-being, and apply practical strategies to prevent harm. Students work with due diligence requirements and the Canadian Standards Association CSA Z1003 Psychological Health and Safety Standard, supporting the integration of psychological health into existing OHS systems.

Exploring the complexities of the human form is the key to success as a figurative artist. Students explore life drawing challenges that focus on accurate portrayal of the human form during everyday actions. They also explore a variety of media, hone their rendering skills, and push the boundaries of effective composition. Students engage in a range of techniques that strengthen their identity as artists.

Registration in this course is restricted to students admitted to the Diploma in 3D Technologies for Film and Games.
