On July 4, 2025, IRCC announced an update for students transferring from Canadian high schools to post-secondary institutions. As long as you have a valid study permit and apply for your Langara College study permit extension inside Canada before your original study permit expires, you can begin studies at Langara College while your study permit extension application is being processed.  Please visit Changing your school or program - Canada.ca for detailed instructions.

The secondary school study permit will become invalid on whichever comes first:

  • The day your study permit expires or
  • 90 days after a student has completed high school studies, regardless of the expiry date shown on your study permit.
