Vancouver, BC - Justice Institute of British Columbia (JIBC) and Langara College have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to explore additional educational opportunities for students at both institutions.
Under the MOU, JIBC and Langara will explore opportunities to facilitate the transfer of students between institutions and actively explore new pathways for students to complete their credentials. One opportunity currently under discussion is a pathway from Langara’s two-year diploma program in Criminal Justice into JIBC’s new Bachelor of Law Enforcement Studies program. Both institutions will aim to complement and support each other’s programs, and develop new programs that could be delivered collaboratively.
The agreement was signed at JIBC’s New Westminster campus between Dr. Michel Tarko, JIBC President and CEO, and Dr. Lane Trotter, Langara College President and CEO, accompanied by Dr. Laureen Styles, JIBC Vice-President, Academic, and Dr. Brad O’Hara, Langara’s Vice-President, Academic and Provost.
“We have had a longstanding relationship with Langara where select JIBC courses are offered at its Vancouver campuses,” said Dr. Tarko. “The MOU significantly extends this relationship and aims to create more flexible options for our students to realize their educational and professional goals through collaborative activity between the two institutions.”
“We’re excited to enhance our partnership with the Justice Institute of British Columbia,” adds Dr. Trotter. “This new understanding will serve students from both institutions and pave the way for increased collaboration with JIBC.”
