The Langara College Board of Governors would like to thank departing Board members David Chiang, Sarj Dhaliwal, and Bruce Falstead for their dedicated service in the past years.

Chiang and Dhaliwal were appointed to the Board in 2005 by the Lieutenant Governor in Council and recently completed a six-year term. Falstead was appointed by the Lieutenant Governor in Council in 2008 and recently completed a three-year term. During their tenure, Langara celebrated its 40th anniversary, experienced rapid growth with record-breaking enrolment, and saw significant facilities development through the construction of a new Library and Students’ Union Building, and the retrofit of Building C.
“It was a pleasure to work with David, Sarj, and Bruce,” said Dennis Dineen, Langara Board Chair. “The varied expertise and business acumen that each governor contributed to board discussions over the years has been invaluable. As long-serving board members, their participation at varied College-related meetings and events has been greatly appreciated.”
Chiang, a Chartered Accountant, Certified Internal Auditor, and Certified Management Consultant, is General Manager and Director of Professional Services with ACL Services Ltd. - a Vancouver based software company that provides audit analytic technologies to the governance, risk and compliance market. He has also served as an elected member of the Council of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of BC and presently sits on the Institute's Professional Conduct Enquiry Committee and Rulings Committee. Previous Board positions include Board Chair, Board Vice-Chair, Human Resources Committee Chair, Board Coordinating Committee Chair, and Board Development Committee Chair.
Dhaliwal, a Chartered Accountant, is Chief Financial Officer for Celayix Inc.- a software company providing leading work force management software. Prior to joining Celayix, Dhaliwal previously worked as a senior manager for two of the major Canadian accounting firms. Previous Board positions include Administration and Finance Committee Chair, Audit Sub-committee Member, and Board Coordinating Committee Member.
Falstead, Manager, First Nations Initiatives for FortisBC, has been the lead on education within the First Nations communities for many years and has extensive knowledge of First Nations issues, protocols, and history. Previous Board positions include Facilities Development Committee Member, Board Development Committee Member, and Human Resources Committee Member.
