Course Description
Good writing is crucial for success in the Canadian workplace. Students are introduced to best practices of grammar and language use, tone and style, and professional document formats for the workplace, including memos, letters, email messages, and career packages. An intensive focus on sentence-level grammar and syntax will help students to develop their ability to write clearly in an organized, precise, and effective manner. This course is intended for students who need to upgrade their written English skills and who do not intend to take university-transferable ENGL courses. This course does not provide prerequisites for university-transferable ENGL or CMNS courses, and can be used to fulfill English requirements only of the Diploma in General Education. Students with LET 3 or equivalent and/or who have received credit for CMNS 1118 may be dropped from this course.
Prerequisite(s): One of the following: LET 2 (or LPI equivalent); a minimum 50% in English First Peoples 12, English Studies 12, Literary Studies 12, or equivalent; or IELTS 6.5 or equivalent.
