Dear Langara community,

On behalf of snəw̓eyəɬ leləm̓ Langara College, I am thrilled to announce that Parveen Mann is joining us as our new Vice-President, People and Culture. Parveen’s experience in the post-secondary sector is deep, having most recently worked at the University of British Columbia as a director of human resources since 2021, and spending almost five years in a similar role at Capilano University prior to that.

Parveen is a purpose driven and relational leader who will help contribute to creating an engaged community that is innovatively co-creating our future. She has a strong commitment to EDI and is looking forward to continuing relationships with Musqueam.

In the new role, Parveen wants to put student success at the center of the people and culture strategy, programs, and services. Her goal is to enable and empower employees to make a meaningful contribution to Langara, the lives of students, and the community.

Here’s what Parveen wanted to share about what attracted her to Langara:

Education has always been an important value in my family. I believe educational institutions play a vital role in building leaders who can address societies current and future. Langara’s academic plan connected to my own views and personal values – the need to invest in the character and curiosity of students, and to build social responsibility and community relationships. Langara is unique among post-secondary institutions in B.C., because it makes education accessible for all students, providing opportunities and pathways for students from diverse backgrounds to create new and unique pathways to contribute to their communities.

Parveen joins us at an important time for the institution, and we look forward to leaning on her experience and expertise to continue to make Langara a place that fosters student and employee success. Her academic qualifications include a Master of Arts degree in Executive Leadership from Royal Roads University, a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of British Columbia, and a certification in PROSCI Change Management.

Parveen will officially start in her new position with Langara on October 1. Please join me in welcoming Parveen to our team.
