Pooya Nabei is Langara College’s 2025 Photographer in Residence. His residency project, titled “An Old Reverie”, explores the myriad struggles that individuals and families face as they write their stories in a foreign land. An immigrant himself, Pooya has always been fascinated by the profound changes one must navigate to successfully adjust to a new country and culture.

Join Pooya Nabei and the Langara Photography Department for a talk with the artist and opening reception featuring the exhibit on April 10, 2025, 6pm-7:30pm,in the T-Building Gallery.

About Pooya 

Pooya Nabei was born in Tehran, Iran, in 1983. He moved to Canada at the age of 17. He currently resides in Vancouver, Canada. Pooya’s passion for photography began in his high school photography class. His professional career launched in 2005 when he started photographing nightlife. Pooya’s work first came to notice when he was published Applied Arts in 2011.

He enjoys the full spectrum of photography – from planning large concepts fashion shoots, galleries or portraits to one on one intimate studio settings.

Some notable clients Pooya has worked with are: A&W, Hallmark Channel, OAK+FORT, Earls Restaurant.
