Admission

Students should have an arts background, whether it be from high school courses, post-secondary education, or adult education, and should be able to demonstrate a proven ability in the arts (this can be in the form of drawing, painting, model building, photography, animation, graphic or electronic media design, etc.). Prospective students should submit a portfolio of work on line with a link that includes three to four pieces in any media they choose with their application. Basic knowledge of Adobe Photoshop is a requirement.

Application Forms

There are no set dates to submit your application. Applicants must go through a formal application process to enter the program. Once your application has been received and processed you will be notified of an interview time within 2-3 weeks. If you are living out of town this may be done via a telephone call.

Admission Requirements:

  • 18 years of age
  • Completion of grade 12 or mature student status
  • Personal interview and proven interest in working in the film industry

Students are asked to provide a written letter outlining their reasons for attending this course with their application and detailing any past involvement in film or video production, or related entertainment fields (paid or voluntary) and proof of completion of related courses.

Mature Student Status

Applicants who lack the minimum requirements may apply as mature students provided they are 19 years of age or above when entering the program.

Application Process

Applicants should upload their material and provide a link for viewing. You may also attach a resume to the form if you wish.

Program Fees:

Full time Program $ $5,875 for domestic students and $7000 for International students. Small amount for materials. Full fees must be paid prior to the start of the program.Student loans and HRDC funding is available where applicable. Each intake is limited to 10 students. 

Application Fees: Non-Refundable.

  • $100 for Domestic 
  • $155 for International students.

  • In person, with cash, cheque, Visa or MasterCard: Continuing Studies, A Building
  • By mail with cheque: Langara College Continuing Studies, 100 West 49th Ave, Vancouver, BC V5Y2Z6 

International students can also pay online (not available for Domestic students) There is an additional form to fill in if they use this method.You do not need to submit English language scores for this program.

Program Withdrawal

The admission application fee is non-refundable. Students who leave the program during the first week of the program will lose $1000 plus their non-refundable application fee of $100. After that there will be no refunds. Students leaving the program must do so in writing. Non-attendance does not constitute withdrawal from the program.
