The following is required upon acceptance to the Early Childhood Education program:

Standard First Aid

A First Aid Certificate (original required), indicating successful completion of a course with emphasis on first aid and CPR for children and infants, must be received by the Registrar’s Office by the first day of class. In preparation for working in licensed child care settings, the Langara ECE program requires that all students have completed training in accordance with the Child Care Licensing Regulations of British Columbia. Please see First Aid and CPR Training Requirements or visit the website for specific requirements.

Criminal Record Search

The Ministry of Public Safety and Solicitor General, as well as the placement agencies where students in this program do practicum work, require all students to complete a Criminal Record Check.

The criminal record check must be completed before you enter this program. Please complete the Consent for Criminal Record Check form for a Schedule B record search using Access Code: R7FM5FYPUT.  The cost is $28 and can be paid by Visa or MasterCard. When applying for the Criminal Record Check, indicate 'Student' under 'Job Title'.

Once the Ministry has completed the criminal record check, a copy of the results will be sent to Langara College. If the letter indicates that no relevant criminal records were found, you will be permitted to start classes in your program.

Please complete your Criminal Record Check as soon as possible; processing times at the Ministry vary and you will be unable to proceed with your program until the clearance is received.

For more information regarding criminal record checks, please visit the Ministry website.
