Are you a new Canadian interested in working in healthcare administration, but need to improve your English first? Elevate your skills with industry-specific English Language Learning (ELL) courses.
Langara’s FREE Occupation-Specific English Language Learning (OSELL) Pathways courses help you build the language skills you need to prepare for one of two short certificate professional healthcare programs*:
Once you complete your English training, you’ll be qualified to enroll in the part-time MOA or DR programs*.
*tuition for Medical Office Administrator or Dental Reception program is paid by the student
What to expect
- You will join a supportive learning environment with instructors who understand the needs of new Canadians.
- You will learn about the foundation of workplace communication, medical or dental terminology, and essential language skills — all tailored to the healthcare office environment.
- Once you complete the English training, you will be better prepared to begin the Dental Reception or Medical Office Administrator program at Langara.
- Note, students currently enrolled in the Dental Reception or Medical Office Administrator are eligible to enroll in these courses.

- Eligibility:
- Canadian citizens, permanent residents, refugees
- Intermediate level of English (applicants will be given a language assessment before the start of classes to confirm level)
- Those who are committed to studying in Langara’s Dental Reception or Medical Office Administrator program
- Location:
- English classes for the Dental Reception and Medical Office Administrator pathway will be online.
- Time:
- Each pathway contains 3 courses, from February to August 2026.
- You will take 1 course for 9 weeks and 2 courses for 8 weeks.
- There will be 18 hours of independent coursework each week, including one scheduled drop-in time each week to connect with your instructor and classmates
