Makerspace and Sustainability are partnering to host a college-wide Circularity Planter Competition—a creative challenge designed to spark innovation and bring awareness to our Makerspace. Makerspace promotes sustainability by reducing waste through repair, reuse, and upcycling, while encouraging shared resources, educating communities, and fostering collaboration through workshops and projects.
This hands-on project invites students and employees to design and craft a unique planter using reclaimed or recycled materials, reinforcing principles of resource efficiency and waste reduction, while learning new skills and meeting new people.
By participating, you’ll contribute to the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), including Responsible Consumption and Production (SDG 12), Climate Action (SDG 13), and Life on Land (SDG 15). Beyond sustainability, caring for a plant promotes mental well-being and mindfulness, while choosing diverse plant species cultivates biodiversity awareness.
