Students may transfer all of the above courses toward the UBC Diploma in Urban Land Economics and the UBC Bachelor of Business in Real Estate. Students with a business degree may apply two courses (i.e. Real Estate Appraisal and Real Estate Investment Analysis) toward the UBC Post-Graduate Certificate in Real Property Valuation, an accelerated pathway to the AACI designation from the Appraisal Institute of Canada. This option may appeal to Langara College Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) graduates.

BC Financial Services Authority (BCFSA)

BC Financial Services Authority (BCFSA) is responsible for the licensing process in BC for various professions. Students have the option of completing specific Langara College courses to become eligible to request a waiver from the applicable UBC licensing course. Students would be responsible for meeting all other BCFSA requirements (English Proficiency, licensing examination, applied practice course) with BCFSA directly.

Trading Services Licensing

Students can complete the following 4 courses to be exempt from the UBC Real Estate Trading Services Licencing Course:

  • PROP 1004 Real Estate Law
  • PROP 1005 Real Estate Appraisal
  • PROP 1023 Real Estate Finance
  • PROP 1024 Real Estate Mathematics

Rental Management Services Licensing

Students who complete the Property Management Certificate program and the following courses may be exempt from the UBC Rental Property Management Licencing Course:

  • PROP 1001 Property Management - Residential
  • PROP 1004 Real Estate Law
  • PROP 1005 Real Estate Appraisal
  • PROP 1020 Real Estate Investment Analysis

Appraisal Institute of Canada

The Appraisal Institute of Canada awards two professional designations: the Canadian Residential Appraiser (CRA) and the Accredited Appraiser Canadian Institute, Professional Appraiser (AACI, P.App.).

The following three courses may be applied toward the CRA designation:

  • PROP 1004 Real Estate Law
  • PROP 1005 Real Estate Appraisal
  • PROP 1022 Residential Construction

The above courses, plus the following two courses, may be applied toward the AACI designation:

  • PROP 1020 Real Estate Investment Analysis
  • PROP 1024 Real Estate Mathematics

Note: UBC administers the entire Appraisal Institute of Canada Education Program across all of Canada on a distance education basis. Real Estate Institute of British Columbia

The Contining Studies Diploma in Real Estate meets the education requirement for the RI designation of the Real Estate Institute of British Columbia.

Professional Association of Managing Agents

All courses within the Property Management Certificate program, the Professional Building Manager Certificate program, and the Real Property Analyst Certificate program are eligible for credit toward the Certified Professional Residential Property Manager (CPRPM) designation awarded by the Professional Association of Managing Agents (PAMA). Strata Property Agents of British Columbia

The Strata Property Agents of British Columbia (SPABC) is a professional association comprised of approximately forty strata management companies in British Columbia. SPABC strongly encourages recently licensed strata managers to complete the “PROP1043 Advanced Strata Management” course offered by Langara College. This is an applied course designed for strata managers in their first year of employment with a strata management company. Experienced strata managers can also take the course as a refresher and a review of critical topics.

 

Institute of Real Estate Management

Two courses within the Real Property Analyst Certificate program (Real Estate Law and Real Estate Mathematics) may be applied toward the CPM designation, awarded by the Institute of Real Estate Management through the Real Estate Institute of Canada.

Institute of Municipal Assessors

Real Estate Appraisal and Real Estate Mathematics fulfill two of five course requirements for the UBC Certificate in Real Property Assessment. This certificate meets the core educational requirement leading to the Institute of Municipal Assessors’ Associate Member (AIMA) and Accredited Member (MIMA) designations. British Columbia Non-Profit Housing Association

The Social Housing Management Certificate was developed through a partnership between Langara College and the BC Non-Profit Housing Association (BCNPHA). BCNPHA represents almost 400 housing societies located around the province. The certificate program is designed for staff, managers, and volunteers engaged in social housing operations or development.

The Social Housing Management Certificate program at Langara College gives students a broad base of academic and practical knowledge, and cultivates important management skills directly related to social housing. To support ongoing professional development among social housing practitioners, BCNPHA offers numerous seminars and workshops each year, in addition to organizing a major annual conference each November. Langara College Regular Studies

Graduates of Regular Studies’ Diploma in Accounting, Diploma in Business Management, Diploma in Financial Management, or BBA degree program may apply selected courses in economics and accounting toward the Continuing Studies’ Real Property Analyst Certificate.
