About
Europe Field Studies – Germany and Italy: Crossing Boundaries, Bridging Worlds

Join instructors from the Department of Geography & Geology and the Environmental Studies Program for a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to gain diverse cultural perspectives while exploring some of today’s most pressing questions.
The Europe Field Studies program will explore place, identity, change, and sustainability from the unique urban, historical, and environmental contexts of Munich, Venice and Rome. Following an overall program theme of “Crossing Boundaries, Bridging Worlds,” we will consider the contemporary urban landscapes of these cities, while visiting fascinating and complex cityscapes, and considering how their respective pasts orient them to an equitable, resilient and sustainable future.
Starting in Munich, and travelling by rail to Venice and Rome, from the perspectives of a geographer and an urban planner, we will explore urban neighbourhoods, museums, memorials, and places of cultural, historical and environmental significance across Germany and Italy.
Earn university-transferable credits while you travel
The European Field Studies program is being offered as a six-credit program:

- GEOG 1195: Special Topics: Resilient Sustainable Cities in Europe (3 university-transfer credits)
Total: 6 university-transfer credits
