Vancouver, BC - Langara College is excited to announce the full-time Graphic Novel & Comix Program starting this coming September. The comprehensive program will run evenings and weekends for three consecutive terms. The 17 courses include, but are not limited to the following: Life Drawing for Comics, Layout for Comics and Advanced Comic Storytelling and will assist in the creation and promotion of this popular genre.
The full-time program covers an exhaustive and in-depth curriculum. Students will learn important skills like character creation, world-building, life drawing for comics, colour theory, lettering and layout. Publishing and promotional courses will help students learning the business side of publishing and how to get their comic books out into the public sphere. Along with courses in traditional mediums, students will learn digital media programs, including Clip Studio Paint Pro and the Adobe suite software including Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign.
This program is taught by seven of the top comic book creators in Vancouver with decades of experience in the industry and as instructors.
“Following the success of our part-time program, I’m excited to provide a full-time option that allows students to continue working while studying. Opening up this full-time program means they can finish the program faster, build their portfolios, and move ahead with their own careers in graphic novels and comics,” says CS Arts & Illustration Program Coordinator Jeff Burgess.
This exciting new program will give comic book creators the best and most significant opportunity to realize their dreams of working in this fast-growing industry.
