We wanted to let you know that the BC Provincial Health Officer (PHO) has extended some of the health and safety guidelines for everyone in British Columbia.

Mask Order Extended

On October 29, the BC Provincial Health Officer (PHO) advised British Columbians that masks are still required in all indoor public spaces within British Columbia for all people born in 2016 or earlier (ages 5+) regardless of vaccination status. This extension does not have an expiration date.

Exemptions to this order include:

  • People with health conditions or with physical, cognitive or mental impairments who cannot wear one
  • People who cannot remove a mask on their own

  • Children under the age of 5

  • People who need to remove their masks to communicate due to another person's hearing impairment

A face shield is not a substitute for a mask as it has an opening below the mouth.

Vaccination and Booster Shots

Our fall COVID-19 vaccine clinics were well-attended, and we are hoping to host more clinics on campus in the new year when booster shots will be available to the general public. Vaccination continues to be one of the strongest health supports that we have during this phase of the pandemic. For those who are still seeking vaccination, you can find community vaccination clinics on the Vancouver Coastal Health website.

We thank you again for doing your part in helping to keep our community safe.
