Overview:
S.T.E.M. Sprouts delivers specialized accessible S.T.E.M. based programs for neurodivergentstudents (e.g., autism, ADHD). Fostering a fun exploration of S.T.E.M. in a low-pressure environment to allow forgenuine social connections to develop. Our approach in working with neurodivergent studentsis a commitment to providing neurodiversity affirming supports, and encouraging each studentto be genuinely themselves. Program activities are individualized to the strengths/supportneeds of each student.Within a safe space that actively works to reduce barriers to learning and thriving,incorporation of individualized goals can be worked on. Our programs value incorporatinginterests, allowing for sensory breaks, catering to individual learning styles or communicationstyles, and more!
STEM Facilitator
Position Description:
The role of a volunteer STEM facilitator at STEM Sprouts is an important one that supports and mentors neurodivergent students (e.g., autism, ADHD) that are attending STEM focused programs. It is an impactful role and also one that can be lots of fun! Example of STEM based activities that we will be doing are: science experiments, 3D product design, 3D printing, 3D pens, Minecraft, coding, robotics, electrical circuits... and more! Roles/responsibilities: - Assist lead facilitators and other facilitators with implementing lesson plans/activities - Assist students with STEM based activities (e.g., robotics, Minecraft, 3D printing, science experiments) - Sets up program space before the start of each session - Assists with tear down and clean up after each session - Facilitate positive peer interactions - Share any observations made regarding students during end of session data collection - Assist with other program related tasks

Required Skills and Experience:
- Have some experience working with children and youth, ideally with neurodivergent youth (e.g., autism, ADHD) - Is studying or has an interest in special education, education, psychology, or related field, or STEM - Has experience working in group settings (e.g., after school groups, summer camps, preschool, etc.) - Has STEM related interests or skills (e.g., coding, robotics, 3D printing, video games) - Knowledge of current video games, youtubers, streamers, shows and animes catered to pre-teens. (^ if interested candidates may not have all of the ideal skills/experience listed above, still feel free to apply)
