In celebration of Pride Month, join us to learn more about the 51st anniversary of the Stonewall Riots and to hear from our colleague, Maggie Stewart, Manager, Office of Student Engagement. Maggie will share personal stories about growing up with gay fathers in the 90’s, and then later in life coming out as gay herself. Hear about the incredible resilience of a “family fighting to be recognized as a family”, living through some important LGBTQIA2S+ historical rights events, and listen to how far we’ve had to come and how far we still have to go. This session will be presented in ‘talk-show style’ and will also aim to draw parallels and shared experience from an intercultural perspective as well. Come to listen, ask questions and learn more together. For information on the history of Canadian Pride, click here and on the Stonewall Riots in NYC, click here.
