Overview:

Providence Health Care (PHC) is the largest Catholic-operated health care organization in Canada and provides health care services to all ages across the full continuum of care. Providence Health Care is comprised of eight health care providers which include: Holy Family Hospital, Mount Saint Joseph Hospital, St. Paul’s Hospital, St. Vincent's Brock Fahrni and Langara, Youville Residence, St. John’s Hospice, Honoria Conway.

 

Gift Shop Volunteers

Position Description:

We have a small gift shop at our facility that sells things, such as candy and small gift items, to our residents, staff and visitors. This shop is 100% run by volunteers and the funds raised from the running of the shop go towards equipment and programs for the residents.Volunteers:- Assist residents with shopping while providing social interaction for the residents- Handle a variety of cash sales with residents, visitors and staff- Open and close shop, restock shelves, tidy-up, market merchandise and sell variety of items e.g. gift ware, candies, toiletries, etc.How to apply:Apply online by going to http://bttr.im/gj80s

 

Required Skills and Experience:

-Must be fully vaccinated for COVID-19 (7 days post dose 2)-Able to assist elders who have physical and/or cognitive challenges.-Previous cash handling and/or consumer service skills an asset but not required.-Able to keep accurate and detailed records.-Physically capable of pushing elders in wheelchairs and carrying out physical tasks as required.-Able to communicate well in verbal and written English.-Friendly, reliable, patient and respectful.-Able to follow direction and able to work both independently and as part of a team.-Willingness to listen, learn and develop effective ways to interact with elders.-Sincere interest in the social needs elders.- Ability to speak a second language an asset but not required.
