Math Mentor

Position Description:

You don’t have to be a math whiz to help a child who struggles with numbers. Mentoring with Math aims to support families who are not otherwise able to financially pursue academic support opportunities outside of school.This program is designed to strengthen the impact of tutoring by adding in the element of mentorship. Learning from a Mentor as a positive role model and friend encourages self-esteem and confidence-building for the Mentees as they work through math problems together. Snacks, math workbooks, and other supplies are provided.Our volunteers are of all genders and come from diverse backgrounds.What is mentorship? We organize fun activities year-round like water-skiing, sailing, and wall-climbing. Whenever possible, our organization provides activity ideas and free tickets and admission vouchers to Big Buddies and Little Buddies. As a volunteer, you can make a positive impact on the community, gain a sense of personal reward and fulfillment by contributing to a child's self-esteem, develop a more positive attitude, which leads to greater productivity at work and makes a new friend.
