Student Work Programs

Applications for Fall Semester 2020 are now open.

In response to changes to College operations, SWAP and WOC students will be able to work remotely for the fall 2020 semester (provided they are living in Canada while working for the College).

Student Work Assistance Program (SWAP)

The Student Work Assistance Program (SWAP) provides paid employment for students who demonstrate financial need. SWAP students work in various capacities on campus throughout the year.

Please ensure you meet the eligibility criteria before applying:

  1. Enrolled in a minimum of 9 credits at Langara (Students with permanent disabilities require a minimum of 6 credits and to be registered with Accessibility Services). This enrolment must be maintained throughout the term, in order to remain eligible.
  2. Have a cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 2.00 or above, and in good academic standing. First term students are eligible and are not required to meet this criteria.
  3. Demonstrate a financial need*

*If you are applying for SWAP and do not have approved student loans or grants for the term through StudentAid BC, you will need to attach the SWAP Budget Sheet to your application.

Students can contact departments on campus to check for position availability or wait to be contacted.

Work on Campus Progam (WOC)

The Work on Campus Program (WOC) allows students to be employed as peer tutors or perform basic research at Langara.

To apply for WOC, please complete the online application on the Langara employment opportunities page.

Please ensure you meet the eligibility criteria before applying:

  1. Enrolled in a minimum of 3 credits.
  2. Have a cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 2.00 or above, and in good academic standing. First term students are not required to meet this criteria.

If your application is successful, you can contact departments on campus to check for position availability or wait to be contacted. Students who apply will receive a notification alerting them of their acceptance. If found eligible, students can work for a maximum of 100 hours, with a schedule to be determined, upon hire.

Please note: Hiring for SWAP/WOC positions for Fall Semester 2020 is limited to departments that have been pre-approved for hours by the Associate Vice-President, Students. Please contact dss.office@langara.ca with questions regarding approval.
