Student Work Programs

Applications for Spring Semester 2021 are now open.

Due to the College holiday closure, we will be reviewing SWAP applications for spring 2021 starting January 5, 2021.

In response to changes to College operations, SWAP and WOC students will be able to work remotely for the Spring Semester 2021 (provided they are living in Canada while working for the College).

Student Work Assistance Program (SWAP)

The Student Work Assistance Program (SWAP) provides paid employment for students who demonstrate financial need. SWAP students work in various capacities on campus throughout the year.

To apply for SWAP, please complete the online application on the Langara employment opportunities page.

Please ensure you meet the eligibility criteria before applying:

  1. Enrolled in a minimum of nine credits at Langara (Students with permanent disabilities require a minimum of six credits and to be registered with Accessibility Services). This enrolment must be maintained throughout the term, in order to remain eligible.
  2. Have a cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 2.00 or above, and in good academic standing. First term students are eligible and are not required to meet this criteria.
  3. Demonstrate a financial need*

*If you are applying for SWAP and do not have approved student loans or grants for the term through StudentAid BC, you will need to attach the SWAP Budget Sheet to your application.

Students can contact departments on campus to check for position availability or wait to be contacted.

Work on Campus Program (WOC)

The Work on Campus Program (WOC) allows students to be employed as peer tutors or perform basic research at Langara.

To apply for WOC, please complete the online application on the Langara employment opportunities page.

Please ensure you meet the eligibility criteria before applying:

  1. Enrolled in a minimum of three credits.
  2. Have a cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 2.00 or above, and in good academic standing. First term students are not required to meet this criteria.

If your application is successful, you can contact departments on campus to check for position availability or wait to be contacted. Students who apply will receive a notification alerting them of their acceptance. If found eligible, students can work for a maximum of 100 hours, with a schedule to be determined, upon hire.

Please note: Hiring for SWAP/WOC positions for Spring Semester 2021 is limited to departments that have been pre-approved for hours by the Associate Vice-President, Students. Please contact dss.office@langara.ca with questions regarding approval.
