Student Work Programs

Applications for Spring Semester 2024 are now closed.

Job opportunities are limited and not all approved applicants may find work in the current term.

Student Work Assistance Program (SWAP)

The Student Work Assistance Program (SWAP) provides paid employment for students who demonstrate financial need. SWAP students work in various capacities on campus throughout the year.

Please note: The SWAP Summer Semester 2024 application will open on Monday, April 15, 2024.

Please ensure you meet the eligibility criteria before applying:

  1. Enrolled in a minimum of nine credits at Langara (students with permanent disabilities require a minimum of six credits and to be registered with Accessibility Services). This enrolment must be maintained throughout the term, in order to remain eligible.
  2. Have a cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 2.00 or above, and in good academic standing. First term students are eligible and are not required to meet this criteria.
  3. Demonstrate a financial need*

*If you are applying for SWAP and do not have approved student loans or grants for the term through StudentAid BC, you will need to attach the SWAP Budget Sheet to your application.

Work on Campus Program (WOC)

The Work on Campus Program (WOC) allows students to be employed as peer tutors or perform basic research at Langara.

Please note: The WOC Summer Semester 2024 application will open on Monday, April 15, 2024.

Please ensure you meet the eligibility criteria before applying:

  1. Enrolled in a minimum of three credits.
  2. Have a cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 2.00 or above, and in good academic standing. First term students are not required to meet this criteria.

How to Find Work

A successful SWAP or WOC application does not confirm a job will be available. Once you've received your email notification that you have been approved for work, there are a few ways you can find work opportunities at Langara:

  1. Log onto the C3 Job Board and search for jobs.
  2. Visit on-campus departments in the first couple of weeks of the semester or email them directly, but be aware that not all departments hire students.
  3. Departments may reach out to you if a position becomes available and your skills/experience align with what they're looking for.
