The One World International Scholarship program supports BC post-secondary students studying abroad. These scholarships are for programs that are either:
- An academic program, where credit(s) will be earned and recognized by the student’s home institution; or
- A language, cultural training, or experiential learning program that does not result in academic credit(s).
Langara offers study, volunteer, and work abroad opportunities that may meet the requirements for the One World International Scholarship program. Learn more about study abroad and work abroad.
Eligibility Criteria
Eligible students are those who:
- are studying abroad (outside Canada and USA) for no longer than one year between February 1, 2025 and April 30, 2026.
*Note: First Nations, Metis, Inuk students are eligible to participate in study programs offered by credit- granting Indigenous institutions in the USA.
- are a Canadian citizen, permanent resident (landed immigrant), convention refugee, or protected person living in Canada.
- are currently enrolled at a public post-secondary institution in British Columbia as a full-time student (as defined by the institution).
- have been accepted into an international experience program:
- for a period of four weeks or longer (not including travel time).
- beginning before May 1, 2026.
- that is not within a country which the applicant emigrated from within the past five years.
- have demonstrated a link between the international experience program and their educational and/or career goals.
- have not previously received a One World International Scholarship or a Premier’s International Scholarship.
If you meet the above criteria, please apply on or before the stated deadline by completing the steps outlined below.
Steps to Apply
- Review the eligibility and selection criteria listed on the application form;
- Obtain “unofficial” transcripts of all your post-secondary studies (in British Columbia and elsewhere);
- Obtain one reference using the form included with the application, who can comment on your accomplishments, character, and motivations and confirm your participation in community and/or school activities.
- Submit the completed application including your transcripts and reference form to the Langara Financial Aid office via email: finaid@langara.ca.
It is the student’s responsibility to ensure this application is completed in-full before the stated deadline. Applications submitted that are missing information may result in disqualification.
