In the past two weeks we have had a number of requests from our community asking for ways to help our students who are impacted by the war between Ukraine and Russia. We have directly reached out to currently registered students from Ukraine to offer support services and a point of contact for assistance and have shared this message with our entire community.
Support and resources are also available through Immigration, Refugee, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) for those who require them. For further information, please refer to the IRCC website.
We acknowledge that students from Ukraine and Russia may be having additional difficulties accessing funds through family members or from financial institutions in their home country. Financial assistance for our students is available on a case-by-case basis and any financial contributions to the Langara Foundation SOS Campaign can help.
Financial Aid
Current students who are in an emergency situation for financial need can reach out to financial aid for support. On an individual basis students will be evaluated for an emergency bursary and/or a fee deferral. Emergency bursaries can be used for rent, food, or other necessities based on the current financial need. Domestic students may contact the Financial Aid Department for more information and support. International Students may contact their International Student Coordinator.
Financial Donations
If you would like to contribute to support our students in this emergency situation please consider an online donation to the Langara Foundation SOS campaign. These funds are used for emergency bursaries to help our students with financial hardship beyond their control.
If you are making donations to other humanitarian organizations, we encourage you to ensure funds are being collected by a reputable agency and are being dispersed as you are expecting as there are fraudulent fundraising circulating.
