Dear students,

Despite these uncertain times, I hope that you had a good summer and were able to take some vacation time. I want to welcome you back to school – whether you are new to the College, or you’ve come back to continue your studies. I am thrilled to welcome you – even though we may be physically distant, we remain a community together.

Over the summer, many people from across the College have been working hard to ensure that you have a successful fall semester. Your instructors have been preparing their online courses, and our facilities staff have been putting a number of health and safety measures in place to ensure that those who do need to be on campus can do so safely. Most of our on-campus services have pivoted to remote delivery in order to serve you safely and quickly.

We are all invested in your success as a student, and despite these unusual circumstances, I do hope that you get to make the best of your experience. Take each day to learn something new, to connect with a classmate, and to ask your instructors questions. And as we are all spending more time online these days, don't forget to take those important breaks to safely connect with friends and loved ones.

Our community has prepared a welcome video for you. I hope that you take their words to heart. We’re so happy that you have chosen to be a part of our community.

This was not likely the fall semester that you might have anticipated a year ago, but I hope that you will enjoy everything that the College can offer for you this semester. Please know that all of us at the College are here to support you and your educational path. Please watch your inbox for important updates throughout the semester, and please do not hesitate to contact any of our services as you require them.

I wish you a wonderful first week, and a successful semester ahead.

Sincerely,

Dr. Lane Trotter,
President and CEO, Langara College
