Vancouver, BC – Langara College is pleased to announce its successful launch of Workday, a cloud-based, integrated platform that will host its finance and people and culture systems, on January 6, 2020.

“Launching a project of this size on time is a tremendous accomplishment for our College,” said Viktor Sokha, Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and Vice-President, Administration and Finance at Langara and executive sponsor for the project. “We’re incredibly appreciative of our project team members who have worked so hard over the past 18 months to get us here today.”

The College’s transition to Workday was driven by a desire to improve its operations and better serve our students, faculty, and staff by offering a modern, user-friendly system. Workday’s commitment to ongoing innovation and continued development of Workday Student, a student information system, were also key factors in its selection by the College.

“Langara continues to be a forward-thinking, innovative institution and our move to Workday reflects this,” said President Lane Trotter. “As one of the first Canadian post-secondary institutions to launch Workday, we’re charting a course for other colleges and universities.”

A few other Canadian post-secondary institutions have implemented or are implementing Workday, including the University of British Columbia, McGill, Brock University, Algonquin College, and the University of Waterloo.

The College also implemented several cybersecurity initiatives this fall, including 2-factor authentication, to better protect the personal information of its staff, faculty, and students.

“Our successful implementation of new technology demonstrates our adaptability as an institution,” said Lane Trotter. “This change is preparing us for the future of education and the world itself.”

Langara officially announced its decision to move forward with Workday, working closely with our implementation partner Deloitte, in October 2018. The College will be moving forward with Workday Student later in 2020.
