Vancouver, BC – Langara College is pleased to announce Art-fully Yours 2011, an auction of professional and student creative work to be held at the College’s state-of-the-art library.

From photography to painting and crafts to ceramics, the one-of-a-kind pieces featured at Art-fully Yours will be sold through a silent auction to raise money for creative programming at the College.

The gala event, the first of its kind at Langara, will showcase some of Vancouver’s top artistic talent alongside up-and-coming students. Highlights include pieces by artists Scott Plear, whose striking work is exhibited in galleries across Canada, and Lesley Finlayson, who is well-known for her elegant watercolours.

Students from the Professional Photo-Imaging program are also donating pieces from their “Merging Time” series, recently featured in an exhibition at the Vancouver Archives. These incredible images utilize composite photography to marry historical photographs of Vancouver’s monuments with modern images. Also on the auction block will be 18 handcrafted paper wreaths by the talented students of the Design Formation program.

“We are thrilled by the positive response we’ve seen to Langara’s first art and design auction,” said Julie Longo, Langara’s Dean for the Faculty of Arts. “Already students, faculty, and staff have submitted unique and beautiful items to be auctioned, and hundreds have RSVP’d to attend. It will be an evening of fun and celebration that will showcase the talent and generosity of the Langara community, and benefit our students.”

The event will take place from 6:00 pm to 8:30 pm on December 1, on the second floor of Langara’s library. Funds raised from the sale of pieces through the silent auction will be split 50/50 between the artist and creative programming at Langara. Tickets are free, and can be booked through www.langara.bc.ca/artauction.
