Nursing Paper Published

The paper “Evaluation of a Guideline for Managing Chronic Pain” by Langara nursing graduates Lillian Alexus RN, MSN Nurse Educator Langara College, Kevin Chen RN, and Lawrence Talusan RN, St. Paul’s Hospital, was recently published in Perspectives, The Journal of the Gerontological Nursing Association (Winter 2009/Spring 2010, 33(4).

The paper presented the findings of an evaluation of the effectiveness of a pain guideline used in five residential care settings. A review of the literature and relevant background information was completed. Both qualitative and quantitative information were gathered and analyzed. Recommendations were made for improving pain management guidelines and tools as well as supporting the need for continued staff education and ongoing monitoring of resident’s pain.
