Langara College is proud to support international students on their educational journeys with the President’s International Entrance Scholarships. Each year, these scholarships provide $7,500 to eligible recipients, offering crucial financial aid to help students thrive.
We spoke to two scholarship recipients, Parsa Shahramian and Ariana Rahimi, to learn how this funding has impacted their lives and goals.
Pursuing a passion for science: Parsa Shahramian.
Originally from Persia, Parsa moved to Vancouver to complete high school as an international student. “I moved to Canada two years ago, seeing it as a great opportunity to work hard, get good grades, and deepen my understanding.”
A Science (General) student, Parsa has a strong interest in the human body’s anatomy and biology. “What we’re made of and how we’re created fascinates me. Langara’s supportive environment and experienced instructors are helping me explore my passion for science.”
As an international student, Parsa emphasizes how pivotal the scholarship has been. “Tuition is a key concern for me. Receiving this scholarship has truly changed my perspective on education. It allows me to appreciate every moment of my studies, gives me hope for the future, and motivates me to excel. I’m determined to make myself and my family proud.”
With aspirations to pursue a career in the medical field, Parsa acknowledges the challenges ahead. “The medical field requires dedication and high grades. This scholarship is a launchpad for me. It’s relieved financial stress, fueled my motivation, and encouraged me to focus wholeheartedly on my studies.”
Building confidence and focusing on health sciences: Ariana Rahimi.
Born and raised in Tehran, Iran, Ariana graduated high school in Vancouver before starting Langara’s Health Sciences program in the fall.
For Ariana, the scholarship symbolizes more than financial aid—it’s a confidence booster. “It reassures me that my hard work is acknowledged and valued. Coming from an economically challenged country, I deeply appreciate the sacrifices my parents have made to support me. They’ve pushed beyond their comfort zones for me to pursue my dreams.”
Since childhood, Ariana has dreamed of becoming a pharmacist and one day establishing her own pharmaceutical production line. However, the path is not without challenges. “This major is exciting but expensive. I decided to study at Langara for two years before transferring to a university to create a more sustainable financial plan. The scholarship makes this possible. It’s gives me peace of mind and allows me to fully immerse myself in my academic journey.
The stories of Parsa and Ariana illustrate the transformative power of scholarships. Both students are driven, hopeful for their futures, and they credit Langara for fostering an environment where dreams are not just imagined but achieved.
