[Trigger Warning]
Langara College is committed to providing a safe learning and working environment for our students, faculty, and staff. We are concerned about another incident of indecent exposure that happened on Tuesday, April 19 on campus, which the Vancouver Police Department (VPD) is actively investigating.
It involved two female students who were approached by a male who exposed himself to them in the library. This individual is not believed to be connected with the College and is thought to be the same person involved in the incidents referred to in the College’s announcement of April 8, 2022.
We understand these incidents are very distressing. The College is meeting and providing support to affected students and staff, relying on our Sexual Violence or Misconduct Policy to guide our response. In addition, we have continued to increase safety resources on campus including frequent campus patrols seven days a week.
Langara College is fully cooperating with the VPD on their ongoing investigation. More information can be found in the VPD news release issued earlier today here. If you have any information that would assist the investigation, please contact the Vancouver Police tip line at 604.717.0604
We encourage you to always be vigilant and aware of your surroundings, and report unsafe situations, unusual behaviour, and potential safety and security incidents to Campus Security or the VPD:
- Emergencies: Call 9-1-1, then dial campus security on ext. 4444 from a Langara telephone or an emergency call button located on campus
- Non-emergencies: Call 604.562.1011 or call ext. 5270 from a Langara campus phone
We have many counselling and mental health resources and campus safety services available to support our community for incidents such as these.
