On behalf of Langara College I wish to share our concern for the escalating situation in Ukraine and to offer some resources for support. We know that employees and students in our community have direct connections, friends and family, who are impacted in the region. We encourage you to reach out if you need academic or personal support.

There are many resources and services available to you.

  • Counselling Services: All registered students have free support through our Counselling department. If you would like to meet with a Counsellor, you may email counselling@langara.ca or call 604.323.5221.
  • Mental Health Resources: The Mental Health and Well-being webpage has additional resources in our community. Many of these services are free and are not restricted to students.
  • Langara Global: International students may also contact their International Student Coordinator for support.
  • After Hours Resources and Community Resources: Some community contacts are available to assist you when Counselling Services is closed.
  • 24/7 Counselling Support:  Empower Me – Students covered under Langara Students' Union Health and Dental plan have access to free 24/7 counselling services, 365 days per year. All students (including those not enrolled in the plan but experiencing a mental health crisis) can receive crisis counselling support by calling the 24-hour helpline from anywhere in North America. 1.844.741.6389 (toll-free).
  • 24/7 Counselling Support:  Here2Talk – A confidential, free single-session counselling service by app, phone, or online chat, 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
  • Employee and Family Support: Langara employees can find support through our Employee and Family Assistance Program including advice, private counselling, information referral services. For more details, please access the People & Culture internal SharePoint site.

Our thoughts are with those who are directly impacted.

Sincerely,

Yusuf Varachia
