Vancouver, BC - Langara College is pleased to launch its 2025 Strategic Plan, Weaving a shared future. The new plan, developed in consultation with stakeholders from across the College community, establishes priorities in five areas: Our Culture, Relevant, Innovative, and High-Quality Programming, Indigenization, Community Engagement, and College Sustainability.
“Our new Strategic Plan considers the extraordinary global events of the past 18 months, and the impacts on our community and post-secondary in general,” said Ian Mass, Chair, Langara Board of Governors. “It builds on achievements from our 2020 Plan and envisions a diverse and engaged institution that continues to provide relevant, accessible, and high-quality learning experiences for our students.”
The Strategic Plan, together with a new Academic Plan launching soon, will support innovation at Langara through to 2025. The Plan sets out a vision of an institution that embraces Indigenization; celebrates diversity, equity, and inclusion; engages with local communities; and supports students, contributing to the social and economic sustainability of the region.
“Like all institutions in the sector, Langara is focused right now on preparing for a safe return to campus this fall and steering the College through a recovery from the impacts of COVID-19. But along with those challenges come new opportunities, and I am proud that this new Plan has at its heart student success and respect for the Indigenous communities we serve. While we are proud of all we accomplished with our last Strategic Plan, there is important work ahead and Langara is well-positioned to deliver on the 2025 Plan’s vision,” added Dr. Lane Trotter, President, Langara College.
Over the term of its Vision 2020 Strategic Plan, Langara deepened its relationship with Musqueam, embarked on significant academic program review, renewal and development, completed major improvements to its information technology infrastructure and systems, improved business processes, developed a new 25-year campus master plan, and celebrated its 49th anniversary on West 49th avenue in Vancouver with its first-ever fundraising and alumni engagement campaign, Beyond 49.
