Vancouver, BC - Langara College is pleased to announce RBC Royal Bank as the presenting partner of Community Day, the signature event of the College’s Beyond 49 campaign celebrating 49 years on 49th Avenue. Langara will be hosting Community Day presented by RBC Royal Bank at the main campus in Vancouver on Saturday, June 15, 2019.
“At RBC, we want to ensure young people are prepared for the future of work and empowered with skills for lifelong learning, which is why we are very proud to be partnering with Langara College on the upcoming Community Day,” said Martin Thibodeau, Regional President, British Columbia, RBC. “Langara College plays an integral role in helping students and youth develop the abilities they need to excel in the workplace and community.”
RBC Royal Bank has a long tradition of supporting Langara programs and students. As the College’s bank for over 20 years, RBC Royal Bank has been an important member of the Langara community. This year, the College was excited to extend its relationship with RBC, making them Langara’s first campus-wide partner. “RBC Royal Bank is a long-time and valued supporter of Langara students in a variety of different areas across the College,” said Moira Gookstetter, Executive Director, Langara College Foundation. “We’re excited to be hosting the biggest on campus celebration in Langara’s history on June 15, made possible in part through RBC’s generous support.”
RBC’s participation at Community Day is part of a unique partnership with Langara that encompasses philanthropy, event sponsorship, and on-campus presence, and enhances the experience of Langara’s students. In August 2018, Langara became the first B.C. college to open an RBC On-Campus hub, providing financial literacy education programs and advice to students. The RBC team have become important members of the campus community supporting a number of key Langara events including Welcome Week, Co-op and Career Week, and Clubs Day. Langara faculty also have opportunities to bring RBC’s expertise into the classroom via guest lecturers.
Community Day presented by RBC is a free event that runs from 11 am-5 pm and will feature live music and entertainment, food trucks, a kids zone, alumni homecoming reunions, games, prizes, and so much more. This will be the largest event in the College’s history and is open to people of all ages.
