Vancouver, BC – After 18 months of planning and consultation, Langara College is proud to announce its first ever Academic Plan, which will guide the College’s mission and vision over the next five years.
Hundreds of faculty, staff, students, and outside advisors have consulted on the plan, identifying five priority areas that will provide the framework for Langara’s growth and development through 2019.
• Priority One: Learning and Teaching
• Priority Two: Student Support
• Priority Three: Aboriginal Initiatives
• Priority Four: International Initiatives
• Priority Five: Environmental, Financial, and Social Sustainability
Each of these priorities will be implemented by an Academic Plan Action Group composed of Deans, faculty, staff, and students. As a dynamic framework for ideas and action, the ultimate success of the Academic Plan will be predicated on active support and participation by the Langara community.
“Langara has a longstanding reputation for skilled and student-centered instruction,” says Brad O’Hara, Provost and Vice-President, Academics and Students. “When combined with this Academic Plan, the prospects for greater accomplishment are unquestioned and quite exciting.”
The Academic Plan is a dynamic document that will be reviewed, adjusted, and reaffirmed annually. There will be many opportunities for the Langara community to further shape these priorities, to suggest and organize activities that will help the College to advance its goals, and to offer feedback on implementation.
