Vancouver, BC – Langara saw the successful launch of the new Post-Degree Diploma in Applied Planning in August. After two years of research and development to ensure this program meets the needs of the market, this program has attracted a lot of interest, which is reflected in the enrolment of 27 students for its first cohort in the Fall term of 2014. There is already strong interest in next year’s intake as well.

These students come from a variety of backgrounds, and include five International students. Many have degrees in Geography, Engineering, Planning, Biology, and Criminology.

“The enthusiasm of our students is impressive. We are pleased to have 27 students for the first offering of a new program of this type,” says Gayleen Wren, Division Chair, Community Programs. “This program is attracting such a high caliber of students because of the amazing reputation of the planners and planning employers who have been involved in redesigning the Applied Planning program as a post-degree program.”

This intensive, twelve-month Post-degree Diploma in Applied Planning program is unique in Canada. It is designed to attract domestic and international students with an undergraduate degree or equivalent who share a passion for contributing to livable communities and a sustainable future. Many graduates of this Applied Planning PDD program find work with planning organizations including local and regional government, consulting firms, and First Nations.
