VANCOUVER, BC – Langara is excited to announce that construction on the new Science and Technology Building has begun, marking Phase II in Langara College's 25-year master plan to upgrade and expand the campus.

The new building will add 12,039 square metres (129,587 square feet) of space to the College’s main campus on 100 West 49th Avenue in Vancouver. It will house state-of-the-art biology, chemistry, physics, astronomy, nursing, and computing science labs, as well as a lecture hall, multi-purpose classrooms, and collaborative study spaces. The new construction will also provide a home on the main floor for Registrar & Enrolment Services and a food services outlet.

“The new Science and Technology Building is an exciting component of the College’s ongoing plan to update the delivery of student services,” says Wendy Lannard, Director of Facilities. “These campus upgrades further strengthen Langara’s reputation as a destination for student learning, collaboration, and engagement.”

Teeple + Proscenium Architects and Langara’s Facilities Department are leading the project. Site excavation is to begin as early as November 25, 2013, with an anticipated completion date in early 2016.
