Dr. Izumi Yoda from Tokiwa University visits with Dr. Ian Humphreys, Valerie Peters, and Ajay Patel.
Dr. Izumi Yoda was greeted by Langara’s Vice-President of Enrolment and Business Development Dr. Ian Humphreys, Dean of International Education Ajay Patel, and Manager of International Education Valerie Peters. The group discussed a potential Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between Tokiwa and Langara that would create opportunities for student exchanges as well as other cooperative ventures. Dr. Yoda also had the opportunity to visit with Choji Hayashi, the College’s Department Chair of Modern Languages, and Nariko Takayanagi, Department Chair of Asian Studies, to provide them with information about the exchange program in Japan.
“Langara is dedicated to expanding international opportunities for our students as well as exploring global connections for the College itself,” said Dr. Humphreys. “We look forward to creating an innovative and fruitful partnership with Tokiwa University.
Two students from Tokiwa are already on campus at Langara participating in the College’s Summer English Language Program. The intended partnership will see full student exchanges starting in September, 2014.
“We are delighted to welcome students from Tokiwa University into our summer program this year and look forward to working closely with the university on future program opportunities," added Peters.
