Vancouver, BC – More than $45,000 in awards was distributed at Langara today during the College’s annual Fall Scholarship Ceremony.

Over 200 people, including friends, family, and staff, gathered in the College’s main campus cafeteria to watch as students were recognized for their hard work and commitment. More than 80 awards, established by donors and organizations in the College community, were given out to proud recipients.

College President Dr. David Ross was on hand to welcome everyone to the event, and to present the Langara College President’s Trust Scholarship to students Jessica Radonich-Scanlan (Arts & Science) and Laura Third (Social Science).

“I'd like to express our gratitude to the donors, as well as the faculty, staff, and leadership of this institution,” Dr. Ross said. "And we would of course like to thank the students for their dedication, as well as their family and friends for their support."

Awards were distributed recognizing a variety of talents and achievements, including: the Xerox Canada Arts & Science Scholarship, awarded to a full-time Arts or Science student with the highest CGPA (won by Ramona Golech); the Jade Volunteering Excellence Award, awarded to a full-time regular studies student who has displayed extensive and exemplary on-campus leadership and commitment through volunteer work (won by Dean Tsatouhas and Anh Lu); and the Penny Wise Journalism Diploma Scholarship, awarded to a student who has demonstrated sound researching and reporting skills and shown exceptional promise as a journalist (won by Jeremy Sally).
