Vancouver, BC – Langara is once again teaming up with ad agency Rethink Communications to offer an $18,000 scholarship to the College’s Communication Arts Program.
Aspiring art directors, designers, and students are invited to submit classic black hardcover sketchbooks that showcase their creativity to the award-winning agency in order to be considered for the prize. The winner will be selected by a team of representatives from Rethink and Langara, and will be judged on clarity, relevance, and fresh thinking, along with quality of ideas, craft, and execution.
“We’ve partnered with Langara College to offer one scholarship per year for their Communication Arts Program,” says Ian Grais from Rethink. “It’s a great way to get free tuition to one of BC’s best design and art direction programs. There’s always a demand for talented people to create new and inspired design.”
The lucky winner will receive full tuition to Langara College’s prestigious two-year, full-time Communication Arts Program, as well as an internship at Rethink Communications.
The program, offered through Langara Continuing Studies, is structured to help students expand their knowledge of ideation, as well as the process of initiating, developing, and refining ideas within the realm of communication design.
"Creating a contemporary curriculum for the applied arts community is at the heart of the Communication Arts Program,” said Johnathon Strebly, Langara’s program coordinator for the program. “This fantastic opportunity to work with Rethink epitomizes this creative dialogue between education and industry. We are proud to offer this chance for a designer to fulfill their educational and agency experience dreams."
Those wishing to enter the contest must submit their work to Rethink by September 1, 2012. The contest is open to Canadians and international students alike. For more information visit Rethink’s scholarship page.
