Vancouver, BC – A collection of outstanding graduate artwork will be going on display at Langara College next week to mark the 41st annual Langara Fine Arts Student Exhibition.

The works, crafted by 45 graduating artists from Langara’s Fine Arts Diploma Program, represents a variety of traditional and contemporary artistic disciplines – from painting and ceramics to sculpture and digital design. Approximately 150 pieces of art, selected through a jury process, will be on display at the College’s main campus.

The exhibiting students, who are completing the second and final year of their program, will launch the exhibition with a gala reception on the evening of April 25. The art will then be on display for seven days in a gallery space constructed in the main foyer of the College’s “A” Building. A media room will also be opened to exhibit some of the students’ digital work.

“For two years or more these Fine Arts students have been on a journey that has demanded hours of time, dedication, and hard work,” said Tim Nash, Department Chair for Fine Arts. “They have struggled and learned to transform ideas and materials into images and objects. This exhibition is a small sampling of the beautiful, thoughtful, and sometimes challenging artworks these students have produced.”

The opening reception for the exhibition will be held from 7:00 pm to 10:00 pm on April 25 in the main foyer of “A” Building at Langara’s main campus. The event is free of charge and all are welcome.
