Vancouver, BC – Langara is proud to announce the selection of basketball player Gurjote Jhaj as a Pacific Western Athletic Association (PACWEST) “Athlete of the Week”.

The Falcons’ guard, who stands a lofty 6’4”, is currently leading the PACWEST in scoring, with an average of 21.26 points per game. He is also top 10 in assists.

Jhaj, who is in his second year of Human Kinetics at Langara, was a key player in Friday’s 94-65 victory over the formidable Capilano University Blues, scoring 20 points and adding three assists and three steals to his record.

He went on to score another 37 points in Saturday’s game against the Quest Kermodes – 20 of which were scored in the third quarter alone. The game ended with a 99-81 victory for the Falcons.

With his 57-point weekend Jhaj, who is originally from Richmond, helped the Falcons jump from sixth to fourth in the PACWEST standings. The team will carry the momentum forward into their games this weekend (February 3rd and 4th), when they will take on Columbia Bible College and Douglas College.
