Apple Awards

Vancouver, BC, March 24, 2011 -  Langara is proud to accept two Apple Awards from the 2011 College Media Advisers National Convention in New York City. The Publishing program's student publication Pacific Rim Magazine placed first in the General Interest Magazine category while the Journalism program's student newspaper The Voice placed second in the Two-Year (College) Newspaper category.

"We are very proud of our students and faculty who have worked so hard to make these publications successful," said Dr. Julie Longo, Dean of Arts, Langara College.

The annual convention, held March 12-15, 2011, attracted over 1,200 college journalists, faculty, and advisors for sessions and workshops on broadcasting, design, newspapers, yearbooks, editing, blogging, and more. While most attendees originated from US colleges and universities, there was a small membership of Canadians present. The convention culminated in an awards event, where Langara was recognized twice.
